Terms of Service
Effective date: 9 June 2026 Last updated: 9 June 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Agnieszka Smigielska of Flat 16, 148 Richmond Park Road, Bournemouth BH8 8DF, United Kingdom ("Gospell", "we", "us"), and govern your use of the Gospell mobile application and related services (the "App"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. What Gospell is — and is not
Gospell is an app for personal faith: daily prayer, Bible reading, finding churches and service times, and praying for one another as a community.
Gospell offers spiritual content, not professional advice. Nothing in the App — including Bible passages, reading plans, reflections, prayer features, or community content — is medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or other professional advice, and it is not a substitute for the guidance of qualified professionals or your own clergy. If you are in crisis or concerned about your safety or someone else's, please seek immediate help from emergency services or a qualified professional.
Gospell is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or representing any church, denomination, or religious organisation.
2. Who can use Gospell
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are under 18, you may use the App only with the knowledge and permission of a parent or guardian. By using the App you confirm that you meet these requirements and that any information you provide is accurate.
3. Your account
You are responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in method secure. Tell us promptly at agakacper74@gmail.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission. You may delete your account at any time in the App (Settings → Delete my account).
4. Church and service-time information
The App shows information about churches, including locations and service times, drawn from third-party sources (such as Google), churches' own public websites, and community contributions. This information may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. Service times marked as unverified or "typical" are guidance only. Always confirm directly with a church before travelling. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for loss arising from inaccurate church or service-time information.
If you contribute church information, you confirm it is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and you grant us the right to display and share it within the App.
5. Your content
"Your content" means anything you submit to the App — prayer requests, comments, candle intentions, contributed church details, and similar.
- You own your content. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and distribute it solely for the purpose of operating and improving the App (for example, showing your prayer request on the Prayer wall).
- Public visibility. Content posted to community spaces such as the Prayer wall is visible to other users, with your display name unless you post anonymously. Private features (such as candle intentions, prayer logs, and highlights) are visible only to you.
- Responsibility. You are responsible for your content. Do not post information about other people without their permission, and take particular care with information about children.
- This licence ends when your content is deleted, except for copies that exist in routine backups for a limited period or content we must retain to comply with law.
6. Community rules (acceptable use)
Gospell's community spaces exist for prayer and mutual encouragement. When using the App, you agree not to:
- harass, abuse, threaten, or demean anyone, or post hateful content of any kind, including on the basis of religion, denomination, race, ethnicity, nationality, sex, sexuality, disability, or age;
- post content that is sexually explicit, gratuitously violent, or otherwise plainly inappropriate for a faith community that includes younger members;
- impersonate any person, church, or organisation, or misrepresent an affiliation;
- solicit money, advertise, spam, or use the App for commercial promotion;
- share medical or other advice presented as professional guidance, or discourage anyone from seeking professional help;
- post another person's private information without permission;
- upload malicious code, scrape the App, abuse rate limits, or attempt to access other users' data or interfere with the operation of the App;
- use the App for any unlawful purpose, or encourage anyone to harm themselves or others.
We provide reporting tools throughout the community features. We may remove content, restrict features, suspend, or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe breach these Terms, and where the law requires it we may report content to relevant authorities.
7. Moderation
We may, but are not obliged to, review content. We may remove or restrict content at our discretion to keep the community safe and aligned with these Terms. We are not responsible for content posted by users, though we will act on reports in good faith.
8. Subscription required; purchases
Gospell requires a paid subscription. Beyond any free trial we offer, an active subscription is required to use the App's features.
- Purchases are made through Apple's App Store or Google Play and are subject to their terms. The price, billing period, and any free-trial length are shown clearly before you buy.
- Free trials convert automatically into a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal. You can manage or cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings; deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
- If your subscription ends, we keep your account and your data (your prayer history, highlights, and progress) so that everything is waiting for you if you return, but access to the App's features is paused until you subscribe again. You can delete your account, and exercise your data rights under our Privacy Policy, at any time — with or without an active subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including any cancellation rights that apply where you live.
- We may change subscription prices or what is included; if we do, we will give you notice, and changes will apply from your next renewal.
9. Intellectual property
The App — including its design, branding, the Gospell name and mark, software, and original content such as reading-plan titles and reflections — belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use the App for your personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms.
Bible text in the App is drawn from public-domain translations (such as the World English Bible, the King James Version, and the Douay-Rheims). You may not copy, resell, or redistribute the App or substantial parts of its content or databases.
10. Third-party services
The App relies on third-party services (such as Apple, Google, and our hosting providers) and may link to external websites, including churches' own sites. We are not responsible for third-party services or websites, and your use of them may be subject to their own terms.
11. Availability and changes
Gospell is a young, evolving product. We may add, change, or remove features, and the App may occasionally be unavailable. We will try to give notice of material changes. We may discontinue the App entirely; if we do, we will give reasonable notice and you will be able to delete your data beforehand.
12. Disclaimers
The App is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties or guarantees that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any information in it (including church and service-time information and community content) is accurate or reliable. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
13. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales — including your statutory rights as a consumer.
Subject to that, we are not liable for: (a) losses that were not foreseeable to you and us when these Terms were formed; (b) losses not caused by our breach; (c) business losses (the App is for personal use); or (d) losses arising from user content, from inaccurate church or service-time information, or from your reliance on spiritual content in place of professional advice. Subject to the above, our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the App will not exceed the greater of £50 or the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
14. Indemnity
If you use the App in breach of these Terms or the law and that causes us loss or a third-party claim against us, you agree to compensate us for the reasonable losses, damages, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that result, except to the extent we caused them.
15. Termination
You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially or repeatedly breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the App. Sections that by their nature should survive (including 5, 9, 12, 13, 14, and 17) survive termination.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the App before they take effect. If you continue to use the App after the changes take effect, the updated Terms apply. If you do not agree, you should stop using the App and may delete your account.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections and the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
